2.She is a troublemaker so they won’t let her leave her house.
3.She plans to change her situation by moving back to Puerto Rico with her boyfriend when she gets older.
4.They admire her because she is older, more mature, and boys are interested in her.
5.If she stays on Mango Street for a year she is going to find a job downtown.
6.Esperanxa admires Marin because she is older and when boys say stupid things to her she is not even scared.

1. Marin is one of Louies cousins. She is from Puerto Rico but moved in with her aunt to take care of her cousins and to save up some money.
2. She is unable to leave her house because her Aunt is afraid that if she leave she will get into trouble, and something bad will happen to her because she is so young and pretty.
3. She plans to either move back to Puerto Rico with the money she has saved up to be with her boyfriend and live a nice life, or she is going to wait for her prince charming to come and take her away to something better.
4. Marin is admired by Esperanza and her friends because she is older, and pretty, and knows a lot of things about boys and make up.
5. In a year her aunt and uncle are going to send Marin back to her parents in Puerto Rico saying she is too much trouble.
