PERIOD 1

Questions
1. The girls argue because they are stubborn. Each girl thinks they are right and don't want to hear any different.
2. The argument turns into name calling because to these girls, they take being told they are wrong as an insult. It is a battle of fighting and wit. They probably are agitated with eachother and need to prove themselves anyway they can.

Themes and Symbols
1. Girls are constantly evolving, and changing just like the clouds. The clouds change form just like girls can. One second a cloud looks like an icecream cone and the next second it can look like knife. Just like how the girls are calm and having a nice time and then they are fighting.

Style
1. The way Cisnero spaces the dialoge makes it confusing. You really aren't sure who is talking unless you really pay attention. Gives it the feeling that all the girls are talking at once and that is probably what they are doing.
2.The girls are comfortable enough with eachother to call eachother names and yell. Not saying that thats okay to do, but you wouldn't go up to a perfect stranger and start insulting them and talking about the clouds.

Personal Response
An afternoon with my friends is either laid back, or full of adventures. One afternoon during the summer a group of us went down into the riverbed behind kellie's house. We had to climb down a wall to get into the riverbed. After walking around down there and finding some interesting things, we found a tunnel going into the side of the wall leading to who knows where. It was pretty big, we all had to hunch over to walk through it but we didn't mind. It was getting dark when we found it so we were going to meet up the next day to see where it led to.
The next day we met up and we all grabbed eachothers pant loops to form a chain and walk through. We brought flashlights and everything. It was pretty scary, it was straight out of the movie "It" when they go down into the sewers, just not quite as big. The tunnel led us all the way to another street. We didn't find treasure or battle any monsters, but it was fun anticipating and letting our imaginations run wild.
